This image was taken during a fantastic night spent on the steep slopes of the volcanic caldera on the island of La Palma in the Canary archipelago.

That night, after exploring the trails that led to the best viewpoints of the top of the island during the day, I decided to explore off-the-beaten-path areas. Thus I found this outcrop of rock which plunged into the abyss above a white sea of clouds. I immediately understood that that landscape was perfect for a composition with the Milky Way, which during the month of August set right after the first half of the night. Exploring the surroundings I found this truly immersive and captive foreground, so, when the night fell I was ready with my camera to take the image you can see here.

This image represents for me the comparison between the human dimension towards the universe and the Milky Way, it represents both the inability to communicate with what is enormously bigger than us and the extreme yearning that man feels towards the infinite and the unknown; feeling pushed and thrown towards such immensity is what drives me to photograph and represent these night scenes under the magnificent skies that characterize the darkest places on earth.

This image represents a mosaic of different shots taken with a longer focal length than a classic wide angle, this technique allows me to acquire greater detail and sharpness, allowing a much cleaner post-production work and a really high print quality.
